Photos from Vancouver, as Promised

Dad's an expert at fixing these things . . .

The proud parents. . .

Matt with his girlfriend Adela. I've always been told that kids raised in an international environment will look for someone who is also international. Adela is from the Czech Republic, and spent her growing-up years in China and Syria. Her parents now work in Libya. Is this girl multicultural or what??? We enjoyed getting to know her.

And now, we are back in Manila, back to life, back to work. The jet lag experiment worked successfully. We are fine -- no jet lag! Yehey!

From Vancouver

I am posting from Vancouver, British Columbia. We came here to attend our son Matt's graduation from university. It was great to see him reach this goal, and I definitely had tears in my eyes and a huge lump in my throat as I watched my baby walk across that stage yesterday.

We are attempting an insanely quick trip . . . We arrived on Wednesday, he graduated on Thursday, we spent some time together today (Friday), and we leave tomorrow morning to head back to Manila. Our theory is that we won't have jet lag, since we didn't stay here long enough to adjust. We'll let you know how that works.

I have my camera with me, I did take photos, and I have my laptop with me . . . only thing missing is that pesky little cord to connect the camera to the laptop. So, photos to follow . . .

Highlights: Seeing how Matt has matured, meeting his girlfriend, walking all over beautiful Vancouver, eating together in fun restaurants. . .

Days Fly By

The last few days found me in Baguio, where we lived from 1987 to 1990. I traveled there to minister to some of our alumni who were in town. It was a difficult ministry situation, but I believe God is at work, so I am trusting Him with the results.

More new students are arriving each day. I love this time of year! It's always fun to get to know these dear people, and it's amazing how quickly we can bond. That's how it is in the family of God!

This morning I was texting with my daughter Michelle. As I was signing off, I said "I love you both!" (meaning Jim and Michelle). She texted back, saying, "Don't you mean all three of us?" Oops, that's right, I have to think of them as a family of three now, even though Baby A is only about 2 centimeters long at the moment!

In my last post I mentioned my desperate need for some quiet days alone in the office. And God provided just that. I got so much work done, figured out all the scholarship donations needed for the coming year, and organized the housing for the new students. Now I feel on top of things. Please join me in praying for those students still waiting for visas.
